A small share has 6-7 different vegetables (and herbs) and one kind of fruit, and is appropriate for a family of 1-3 people. A large share contains 9-11 different veggies (and herbs) and one-two kinds of fruits.
What's in season?
In the Spring, look for all kinds of greens, such as spinach, arugula, lettuces, scallions, chard, and kale; plus rhubarb, asparagus, and strawberries starting in mid-May.
For Summer, enjoy the full bounty of the harvest. Squashes, cucumbers, new potatoes, eggplant, beans, peppers, and a wide variety of heirloom tomatoes to start us off. Plus corn, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, gooseberries, and raspberries. So many choices!
Fall continues with summer's bounty, adding figs, apples, pears, Asian Pears, and persimmons to the fruit experience. Summer squash gives way to fall squashes like acorn, butternut, delicata, kabocha, or buttercup. Lots of greens such as spinach, kale, chard, and collards are still in abundance.
In the Winter we use our greenhouses to generate fresh, cool-weather crops such as lettuces, broccoli, chard, kale, spinach, arugula, and collards. You also receive a selection of root crops such as potatoes, carrots, parsnips, turnips, beets, and radishes, along with a fresh herb from the herb house such as parsley, sage, thyme, or rosemary. Pears or apples from the fall pickings are also included. We supplement the winter selection with a monthly addition of canned goods of our summer produce, such as pickles, relishes, or applesauce.
A small delivery fee may apply depending on the pick up location.
Unfortunately we are not set up to accommodate individual likes/dislikes or allergies. Shares are "farmer's choice" - they cannot be modified by members.
Bi-weekly delivery is every other week. Monthly delivery is every 4 weeks.
Please be considerate of our host sites; they have opened their doors to allow people to get fresh produce. Please abide by the pick up hours; keeping shares for people who are late or forgot is entirely at the host's discretion. We can only promise that your share will be there during the specified pick up hours.
We are a small family farm that has been growing fresh fruits and vegetables since 1832. We grow most everything in its season, from asparagus and strawberries in the spring, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, heirloom tomatoes, and corn in the summer, to apples, butternut, and pumpkins in the fall. Four greenhouses extend our seasons and provide winter crops such as spinach, kale, Swiss Chard, lettuces, and arugula. We run a year-round CSA program with a variety of options, and the market at the farm is open 6 days per week, closed on Sundays. We also have drop off points in Philadelphia for our CSA program. We are located on the north side of Wilmington, easily accessible from Rt. 202, I-95, and well-marked local roads.
